Violin Annibale Fagnola
1906 – Torino
This instrument, like many others from the same period, is a copy of a Pressenda model. Pressenda was a highly influential master of the modern Turinese school, and Fagnola was his foremost copyist.
This violin was made by the Piedmontese violin maker Annibale Fagnola (1865 – 1939) after he moved to Turin.
Although this instrument was made during the early, more experimental phase of Fagnola's career, it already showcases the clean and refined style characteristic of his entire production.
Beyond its fidelity to the reference model, one can discern a certain individuality in the choice of forms. These subtly diverge from the original model in the different execution of the f-holes, corners, and scroll, which are slightly more robust and feature more pronounced traits in this instrument.
In excellent condition, this violin beautifully showcases its rich red varnish and the underlying golden ground.
